The Shining
Rosemary’s Baby
Unbreakable
The Descent
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)
Dawn of the Dead (remake)
Psycho
The Ring
The Blair Witch Project
You could start out the evening by going to see Paranormal Activity if it’s playing nearby then come back and watch these 9 others.
They are the scariest movies you will ever see. Not everyone is a shocker. A couple are pretty old, a couple very recent. But skip Halloween, Friday the 13th, Saw, and Hostel. That stuff is crap. Every movie I mentioned deals with scary stuff AND they have good stories that will involve you too. Hope that helps.
Evil Dead 2. It is just phenomenal in every aspect. It’s hilarious without being a self-parody, it’s cringe-inducing, without being too overly scary. The film is briskly paced, without feeling too abrupt. It is just so awesome! Now THAT is what I call a movie. Literally the second it starts, it LITERALLY NEVER STOPS.
“Trick ‘r Treat”
Four interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband. === enjoy ===
The Raven–A halloween tradition since I was probably 6. And seriously, with Vincent Price, Boris Karloff and Peter Lorre…How can you go wrong!
Any of the classic Universal or Hammer horror films
The Descent
Dog Soldiers
The Orphanage
In the Mouth of Madness–seriously underrated
Re-Animator
Sleepy Hollow
Evil Dead–can’t go wrong with a classic
The Cottage
You can go for the classics such as Halloween, The Exorcist, The Shining, The Omen, The Thing, and Eraserhead.
Some recent ones include zombie movies (28 Days Later, Dawn of the Dead, 28 Weeks Later…) and some low-key thrillers like Them, Martyrs, and Eden Lake.
